Equipment
TGS Water Ltd. puts great emphasis on the maintenance of its equipment to avoid any delays in the execution of the projects.
During the initial phase of the geophysical field survey TGS Water, in collaboration with WE Consult, uses the ABEM SAS300 or SAS1000 terrameter. The data are analysed using WinSEV software.
For drilling TGS possesses a PAT301TP rig with mudpump; a second drilling rig (PAT401TP) will be in operation early 2009. The drilling rigs can drill shallow boreholes down to the bedrock without a compressor. In combination with the compressor ( ELGI DH05-018, 450 psi at 450 cfm) the rig is used to drive the hammer into the hardrock using Atlas Copco and KLR hammers (4”-6”) and bits (tricone and DTH 4”-10”).
Casings and pumps (Uganda Mark II) from Multiple Industries or Gentex are normally used toline and equipthe borehole. Biodegradable polymers are used during drilling. The procedures as described in “Drilled Wells" by Peter Ball are optimised and adapted to local conditions to ensure high quality outputs.
TGS Water Ltd. uses Grundfos pumps (SP2-18 , SP5-18, SP14-10, SQ2-1) for test pumping. A 5kVA (DSF5000NL Diesel Engine) and 15 kVA generator (Kubota Diesel Engine) are used to supply the pumps with power. Detailed analysis methods and software are used to advise the clients on the sustainable yield of the boreholes and the optimum pump and power supply.
